I found that not many clients could answer these questions. So I wanted to help them find the answer, and I wanted that answer to be based in science and so I started to create a system I could then easily just run every new client through. It came to the point where I knew too much to just have my design team, push images and text around on a page to make a brochure or similar look nice but not have it really work for my clients.
I have always been interested in human behaviour – how and why we as humans make buying decisions and where buying decisions are actually made in our brains. So I have been reading and implementing all that I have learnt from the likes of Carl Jung, Maslow, Erik Erikson, Clare Graves, Marco Iacoboni, Antonio Demasio and Donald E. Brown to name just a few.
Brandonian today has a proven 5 step process that we take clients through, starting with the Discovery of what they are really selling and defining each businesses competitive advantage in the market. We capture all of this in what we call a ‘Brand Map’ which is an archetype based strategy document outlining how to position in that market, how to defining who they really are as a brand and what they stand for. We outline language and values and how they as the ‘brand’ needs to behave in the market with ideas on how to do this.
Next we help to Awaken the brand with a workshop and then by creating visuals and language that helps them bring all of this to life in their market. Finally we setup 90 day plans with set targets and action steps that we call BAR (brand action and results) that ensures there is a return on investment and this is where we can help with the implementation of the many other neuro-marketing tactics that we use.
This is briefly how Brandonian was started. Officially launched in 2017, but I had been working on the system and running clients through it since 2010. We have done over 100 of these now. Imagine if we started doing our own marketing! all has been referral work but this is about to change!
